Meet Richard Opanuga - Mortgage Broker

Richard Opanuga founded First Premier Mortgage Corp in 2005 as a real estate residential and commercial financial hub to assist homeowners achieve their dreams of getting mortgage loans with affordable lowest rates possible. He is responsible for and currently leading mortgage projects, initiating and designing processes in mortgage services.

He comes with over 16 years experience in the finance industry with responsibilities in Project Management, Corporate Finance, Treasury & Cash Management, Risk Analysis, Organizational development / corporate Leadership. He has functioned in a variety of roles including corporate Taxation and treasury operations. He acquired International working exposure through Robert Half International & Don Richard’s Associates Inc, a World Bank Project Assignments as Grants Accountant with American Bar Association (ABA) Washington DC. As a Financial expert, he worked with fortune 500 companies in the USA including Union Labor Life Insurance Company, where he managed Assets Reconciliation account which includes [Citibank, Sequoia Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, First Union Bank and Bank of America] for 15 Entities. He managed the financial operations of Third Party Administrators TPA. He analyzed credit management for ULLICO Casualty Company Washington in 1999. As a Licensed Mortgage Practitioner he continued his career as a Network Branch / Regional Manager with Premier Mortgage Funding Incorporated. In 2005, he took Assistant Vice President (AVP) responsibilities with an expanded program to originate, pre-underwrites and fund residential loans in major cities in the United States.

He’s visionary leadership as the Chairman / Managing Director of First Premier Mortgage Corporation took the Washington Based Mortgage from inception to an acclaimed height within Washington metropolitan. He designed initiative for FPMC’s Home edge driven program, originated mortgage loans with sales operations estimated at $147.8 Million USD within 3 years of his active leadership and operations as approved by Department of Insurance, Banking & Securities, Bureau of Financial Institution, & Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation. He furthered his education and attended University of Maryland, Robert Smith Business School for the post graduate degree conversion accreditation through FACS.

He is a graduate of Harvard Business School (Executive education). He attended several Leadership Development & Financial Management Programs. He obtained The Global Register’s “Who’s Who” Award for best practices in executive leadership and professionalism in financial industry in 2007. He is a member of various professional bodies such as Institute of Directors (IoD) United Kingdom, American Institute of Appraisers (IA). American Institute of Certified Public Accountants AICPA. Richard Major Strengths include the ability to conceptualize new strategies and projects, prototype enterprise methods, draft policies, write model documents, solve problems, and achieve demanding performance goals.
